PS: Daca nu esti din/ in Bucuresti, dar ai juggling-ul in suflet, serbeaza World Juggling Day in felul tau!

Later update: intre 19 si 21 iunie, Parcul National (Lia Manoliu) gazduieste a doua editie “Parcul Artelor“.

Hi All. I’m happy to announce that 5th International Flashmob Festival will be held in Ukraine this year (August 7-9, 2009). Read this post for more details please:

(video examples included)
I’d like to tell a short history of flashmobs in the countries of the former Soviet Union.
Our movement started in early 2004 in the major cities of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Since that time there have been about 50 to 100 flashmobs in each city and thousands in total, including 4 flashmob festivals.
Previous festivals have been held in following cities:
2005 – St. Peterburg, Russia
2006 – Kiev, Ukraine
2007 – Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine
2008 – Chisinau, Moldova
In short, this is how we define a flashmob festival:
- ~20 flashmobs and other close-to-flashmob scenes held over the course of three days in different places around the city
- all-night, open-air music festival for flashmobbers
- tours to industrial sites, deserted factories and other interesting places around the city
- a lot of fun meeting, partying and sleeping
with flashmobbers from different countries
Previous festivals were visited by groups of mobbers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, Latvia, Scotland and Moldova. This year we have decided to go worldwide.
The main theme of this festival is SPACE. In other words, you should wear something associated with space, aliens, etc., and it is recommended that each city make a funny video connected with the theme of space, although this is not mandatory.
I was chosen as coordinator for all English-speaking visitors, so feel free to contact me anytime with any questions.
